Throughout Pittsburgh and the rest of the country, the COVID-19 pandemic has affected small businesses in unprecedented ways. But at Joe & Pie Cafe Pizzeria, closing our doors was not an option — because we know our community needs us now more than ever, and we’re doing our part to ensure that quality food is within everyone’s reach without compromising health and safety.
Here’s a look at how we’re giving back during this time of need:
Supporting Frontline Workers and Others in Need
So many restaurants in the Pittsburgh area haven’t been able to continue to serve. This is why we felt a need to go above and beyond our normal call of duty and provide as much as we can to others who are helping to keep our city going.
Joe & Pie Cafe Pizzeria is supporting front line workers during the COVID-19 pandemic. We’ve donated countless pizzas to healthcare facilities and others on the frontline to ensure they get a delicious hot meal. Our goal is to have donated and delivered more than 1,000 pizzas as part of our Pittsburgh vs Pandemic challenge.
We’ve also donated hot meals to women’s shelters and others in need. Many critical services like shelters are often overlooked during times of crisis, and we made it our mission to ensure that vulnerable communities remained a top priority.
Shifting to Accommodate New Needs
Joe & Pie is also serving breakfast to fill in the gaps left behind by other restaurants who have temporarily closed. Though many people are staying home, there are countless others who must continue to go to work each day, and we’re making it our responsibility to provide early morning food options.
We’re also continuing to offer delivery service so that our customers don’t have to venture out of their homes for a hot meal. To better serve and protect our customers, Joe & Pie is practicing no contact delivery. Every pizza goes straight from the oven to the box to minimize direct contact with your food. And when we arrive at your location, we’ll leave your pizza at the door and be on our way — no signature or face-to-face interaction required.
Giving Back to the Community
Our Halal pizzeria in Pittsburgh is our livelihood and we want to do as much as we can for others. That’s why Joe & Pie is giving back to the community during the pandemic. We know that many in our city are struggling financially due to job layoffs, furloughs, and business closures, which is why we hosted the $1 personal pan pizza event.
We also enabled a donation feature via our website to accept monetary donations from generous community members that will allow us to continue feeding people in our city who need it most. However, we’re pushing forward with our mission, with or without the extra funds, because we know this is what we’re being called upon to do. We’re in a position to help, and that’s what we will continue to do for as long as we’re able to.
We appreciate your business during this time and look forward to serving you a steaming slice soon!
